Hilton Head Detecting Trip

Last Tuesday Cheryl and I took a drive over to HHI to detect the beach and soak up some rays. There were plenty of depositors on the beach but not much to be found in the particular areas I was swinging over. I say not much, I mean next to nothing from the Goodies Department.
Well that's the way it goes... as John Denver sang once, "Some days are diamonds, some days are stones". In the past I've found some downright pleasing jewelry in the sands there at Coligny.
These beaches have recently been replenished with dredged sand. On one trip I met up with another detectorist I'd become acquainted with on an internet forum for the hobby. His name is Ed and we decided to search the Folly beach end. This was very shortly after the last replenishment and there were next to no targets to be dug at all. There was this one LARGE signal which Cheryl wisely ignored but my curiosity got the better of me and set me to digging nearly a foot deep I uncovered a flare cannister used by our USN. Now ordinarily I'd have perhaps photo'd it and trashed it but it had a DANGER sticker on it saying if found call police or the military. Called the law and they in turn got hold of Ordinance personnel for it's removal. This is a picture of me over the cannister.

I now have a good reason to ignore large signals especially in newly replenished beaches.
Here's a couple of pictures of the tickets dug last Tuesday and Wednesday. The Match Box and Hot Wheels collection is growing!! First, is me in action!
